Okra-Tomato-Stew Okra & Tomatoes

Okra & Tomatoes. A tasty, Southern dish, full of flavor, from the garden to the farm!

Prep Time: 5 min  ~  Cook Time: 50 min  ~  Servings: 4


  • tablespoon Peanut Oil, for frying
  • 1/4 pound Bacon, chopped
  • tablespoon Butter
  • medium Yellow Onion, sliced
  • whole Corn, cut off the cob
  • clove Garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon Seasoned Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • cups Tomatoes, diced, peeled, and cored
  • cup Water
  • tablespoon Chicken base
  • cups Okra, sliced
  • fresh Datil Pepper, seeded and minced
  • to taste Salt and Pepper
  • cups Long Grain Rice, steamed


  • In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Add bacon, butter, onion, green pepper, and garlic. Saute until the vegetables are soft and the onions are translucent.
  • Add seasoned salt, garlic powder, tomatoes, water, chicken base, and okra. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and let simmer for 30 minutes stirring occasionally.
  • Season, to taste, with salt and pepper.
